Lea Salonga was victimized by an AI video
Broadway diva Lea Salonga warned the public against this fake video using her identity to promote a product.
Lea is one of the most successful Filipino artists who gained international fame. Her journey in the entertainment industry, television, movies, music, and theater, has become an inspiration to many younger artists.
With her popularity, it is inevitable that some people with bad intentions would use her name and identity to scam other people.

In a recent Facebook post, Lea Salonga shared that she was victimized by an AI video. She shared that her aunt from Manila sent a message to her that really bothered her.
The fake video claimed that she was ill and was cured by a certain product. With this, the singer-actress warned the public that this is not true.
“Just chatted with an auntie of mine from Manila who sent a message that was unnerving. She had just seen a video claiming that I was in a wheelchair due to arthritis and was cured by some treatment. I told her that I was fine, minor aches and pains from my job, but thatās it. She was bamboozled by a fake video. AI is scary. Stay vigilant and aware,” Lea shared.
Many netizens who commented on her post condemned this kind of post, using other people’s identities to fool and take advantage of other people. “If AI can fool so many people now using just a single photo, what more pa in 2 to 3yrs. Scary!” a netizen commented.
To recall, there had been several celebrities and popular personalities who became victims of fake videos, such as Kapamilya actress-host Anne Curtis. Her Viva management immediately released a statement to warn the public about this. Even the daughter of former Vice President Leni Robredo was a victim of a fake video.
Just recently, singer-actor Ronnie Liang also warned the public against an AI video using his face and voice. In the video, a person who looked like him was speaking about a certain product. He stressed that he had nothing to do with this and that he was not the person in he video.
