VP Sara Duterte Says Not Her Obligation To Reveal Her Personal Trip’s Details

This is what VP Sara Duterte said to those who demand details about her personal trips.

VP Sara Duterte has multiple travels abroad, some of which are personal, but believes it’s not her obligation to reveal details about the personal ones.

Almost halfway through the year, Vice President Sara Duterte has already made multiple trips abroad. Some are official and some are official. She flew to the Netherlands in March, returned to The Hague in late May, and went to Qatar, Malaysia, and Australia.

Among these trips, the latter has been, so far, the most controversial. The Palace questioned whether her trip to Australia was personal or for the country, and Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro shared that there have been some conflicts in her statements.

“Pero, hindi po niya kasi ibinunyag na gagawa siya di umano ng official functions. Magiging magkaiba po iyon kung ang sinabi niya kahit po isa sa inyo, sa media na personal trip, pero mayroon po pala siyang gagawing official functions,” the Palace official stated.

There has been some confusion, and the second-in-command was urged to explain her trip and reveal its details.

Recently, reacting to the demands of details regarding her Australia trip, the vice president reacted and stressed that it is not her obligation to the public to reveal her personal trip. She said, “‘Yan ‘yung example ko sa inyo na bobo talaga, ‘di ba?”

She maintained that government officials who are on leave and not using the public’s funds for it don’t need to explain or reveal anything about the trip. She believes that this is only applicable to official trips. She explained that if one is using government money on official business, that’s when the politician needs to report.

Castro also previously quipped, ‘when emotions are high, intelligence is low,’ and the vice president recently denied she was angry and emotional when she responded to the criticisms from the Palace.
