5 Content Creators Face Charges for Pretending to Be Mentally Ill Street Person

Five content creators are now facing legal trouble after staging a prank where they pretended to be a mentally unstable street person.

The vloggers behind the page “LACION Vines” dressed and acted like the man who previously caused panic in the area by stealing food and disturbing bystanders. They were mimicking a real incident that went viral in Consolacion, Cebu.

Their imitation meant to gain attention online, causes fear among residents who were unaware that it was all staged. Police confirmed that the video was entirely scripted, and the prank was done without informing the public.

Many residents thought it was another real incident, which led to panic. Because of this, charges were filed against the five individuals for causing alarm and public disturbance.

Even though the vloggers issued an apology and explained that the video was just for entertainment, authorities emphasized that their actions still had consequences. Officers reminded everyone that pranks should never come at the expense of public safety or people’s mental health.

The actual man involved in the original viral video, who was seen acting violently in public, has since been brought to a mental health facility where he is receiving proper care and treatment.

Authorities are now reminding content creators to be responsible with the kind of material they produce. Making fun of mental illness or creating scenes that could scare or confuse the public is not only disrespectful but also dangerous.
