Here’s what Jake Cuenca said about McCoy De Leon.
McCoy de Leon’s character is David, and replacing him as the antagonist for viewers to hate is Miguelito Guerrero, played by Jake Cuenca.
David finally bid farewell in the episode of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” on Tuesday. Miguelito Guerrero, played by Jake Cuenca, claimed David’s life, and the episode logged 673,931 peak concurrent viewers.
McCoy exited Batang Quiapo with gratitude to the show that became his home and the cast that turned his family. He is grateful for the opportunity, as he has been in the show since its pilot, which was launched over two years ago.
“Masaya na malungkot, ito ang pinaka-reaksyon ko kasi naging tahanan ko na itong ‘Batang Quiapo’, at gusto ng tao. Ang priority naman namin dito ay ‘yung manonood,” he said as his character bade goodbye from the series.
In an Instagram post, Jake Cuenca, or Miguelito in FPJBQ, also bade goodbye to David and quipped, “Make way for the bad guy. There’s a bad guy coming through.”
According to Cuenca, he is amazed by the talent and dedication McCoy had for his character. He believed that he had set the bar higher, which made him study his character before he joined the series. He wanted to study what he could do that would make his character set apart from his.
“I must admit before entering BQ I studied David’s character and asked myself many times how do I make Miguelito different but more importantly how do I make him worse than David ever was and that’s only because you set the bar very high, McCoy,” he wrote.
He described his performance as “masterful” and said that he is looking forward to the future projects he will be given.
