Malacañang makes this statement about the impeachment of VP Sara Duterte.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro relayed Malacañang’s statement regarding the update in the impeachment trial of VP Sara Duterte.
In an update, the Senate has voted to return to the House of Representatives the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte. To recall, the complaint was transmitted to the upper chamber in February.

As the impeachment court, the Senate has asked the House to “certify” that the complaint did not violate the Constitution. Senate President Chiz Escudero, the presiding officer, clarified that the decision was not meant to dismiss or terminate the case. He was also among those who voted in favor of the motion.
The five senators who voted against this were Koko Pimentel, Risa Hontiveros, Nancy Binay, Grace Poe, and Sherwin Gatchalian.
Recently, through Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, the Malacañang has issued a statement. While the senators are divided in defending the vice president and in defending the procedure, President Bongbong Marcos is accordingly busy doing his duties and responsibilities as the head of the country and addressing more pressing concerns of the country.
The Palace is leaving it to the Senate to decide the fate of the impeachment trial, but they believe that the public is the ultimate judge of the senator-judges whether they made the right choice.
“Makikita ng taumbayan kung sino ang sumusunod sa procedure, o sino ang naglalaro sa procedure, para makaiwas o matuloy ang impeachment trial,” Castro said.
The Palace also reminded the Senate to strictly follow the Constitution, and not play with the procedure and the rule of law.
