Today, the Filipino people celebrates the 127th anniversary celebration of the Independence Day or the Araw ng Kalayaan. We commemorate the day when the Philippine flag was first raised in Kawit, Cavite after a long, arduous fight of our heroes for the country’s liberty.

The Independence Day is usually on the list of the Philippine holidays 2025 for decades now. It is a regular holiday in the country. In this type of holiday, the classes in schools in all levels as well as work in both public and private establishments are cancelled to give the people the opportunity to join in the programs.

In her Independence Day message to the Filipino people, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that the freedom that we are enjoying now is th fruit of the genuine and lasting love of the Filipino heroes to the country as well as their firm stand against the oppression of the foreign invaders.

According to Duterte, because of the sacrifices of the Filipino heroes who offered their lives, we are now living in freedom and as a country which has her own advocacies, goals, and interest. She stressed that the Independence Day is a reminder to guard and protect our freedom.
In her Independence Day message, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stated that embracing the culture of slavery is slamming the memories of our heroes. She cited the ills of the country including the alleged corruption of the government as part of the challenges in preserving the nation’s freedom.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte called on the Filipinos to be proud of our freedom to the world. She also urged the people to continue fighting for our freedom and future from oppressors.
