Distribution of Free School Supplies in Bacolod Delayed but Expected Before End of July
The planned distribution of free school supplies from the Bacolod City Government will not happen before the opening of classes.
It was confirmed by the chairperson of the Committee on Education of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, who explained the cause of the delay.
The delay is due to new Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) issued by the Government Procurement Policy Board (GPPB), which affect the city’s procurement process. Because of this, the release of supplies for students was pushed back.

According to Bacolod City Councilor Al Victor Espino, a meeting of the local school board is scheduled to finalize the distribution date. While the exact date is still being decided, officials are assuring the public that the distribution will not go beyond July.
The city has allocated a total budget of P32 million for the program, which aims to provide assistance to students in need. Children from Kindergarten to Grade 6 are expected to benefit from this initiative.
The program is part of the city government’s effort to support young learners and help ease the financial burden on families, especially at the start of the school year.

Though the delay is unfortunate, local leaders are working to make sure everything is properly organized and that the supplies reach the students as soon as possible. Parents and students are encouraged to stay updated through official city channels for announcements on the exact distribution date.
Despite the slight setback, the program remains a strong support system for thousands of schoolchildren in Bacolod City. The goal is to ensure that students are equipped with basic learning tools as they begin another school year.
