CJ Opiaza Officially Crowned Miss Grand International 2024

It’s official! The Philippines gets its first golden crown as CJ Opiaza was named the winner.

Miss Grand International 2024 winner is CJ Opiaza, after India’s Rachel Gupta was terminated due to failure in fulfilling her duties.

The crowned Miss Grand International 2024 was Rachel Gupta of India, however, she stepped down this year due to mistreatment. As per her words, she resigned due to her bad experiences while she was the reigning queen.

However, according to the MGI organization, Gupta was terminated effective immediately after she failed to “fulfill her assigned duties, engagement in external projects without prior approval from the organization, and her refusal to participate in the scheduled trip to Guatemala.”

In the list of winners, the first runner-up was CJ Opiaza of the Philippines, and since the termination, it was anticipated that Opiaza would be hailed as the new 2024 winner to replace the former winner.

On June 3, things had become official. Opiaza was finally crowned as the new MGI 2024, and this is the first golden crown of the country. To recall, Nicole Cordoves and Samantha Bernado also finished as first runners-up in 2016 and 2020, respectively.

CJ was crowned by MGI founder Nawat Itsaragrisil and raised her hand in victory during the event.

As she claimed victory, she expressed, “I know best things happen for a reason. You just have to wait for that very specific moment, but you have to hold on and do whatever it takes. Before I signed up for this job, I knew I was born ready. I am always ready—and now I’ve been given the challenge, and I am taking the challenge and the responsibility to fill that shoes as your first runner-up, and now, as your Miss Grand International 2024.”

On June 8, the first Filipina beauty queen to receive the golden crown will have a grand homecoming event.
