Pregnant Nurse Loses Her Life After Being Hit by Two Cars
A pregnant nurse in Bago City, Negros Occidental, lost her life after being hit by two cars while on her way to work.
On Sunday evening (June 1, 2025), a female nurse identified as 36-year-old Maria Angela Buendia, was crossing the National Highway in Purok Proper North, Barangay Taloc, when she was hit by two private vehicles. She was rushed to Bago City Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Maria Angela, a resident of the same barangay, was reportedly on her way to report for duty at the Bago City Health Unit when the incident happened around 9:15 PM.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, the Officer-in-Charge of Bago City Police, Buendia was using the pedestrian lane to cross the highway when a red Toyota Avanza, driven by 30-year-old Philip Jansen Cantiller from Bacolod City, hit her. The strong impact caused her body to be thrown into the opposite lane.
Unfortunately, in the other lane, a Toyota Yaris driven by 59-year-old Salvador Castro of Pulupandan also ran over her. Due to the severe injuries, her six-month-old unborn child was expelled from her womb. The unborn child was also confirmed dead in the accident.
Both drivers are currently detained at the Bago City Police custodial facility while authorities continue to investigate the case.

The loss of Maria Angela and her unborn child has saddened the online community. She was a frontliner dedicated to serving others, and her sudden passing is heartbreaking.
The incident reminds all drivers to always slow down near pedestrian lanes and for everyone to stay alert on the roads to prevent such accidents.
