Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Mom Elizabeth Zimmerman Visit Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President claimed that her father, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, is thankful to Senator Imee Marcos.
Vice Pres. Duterte is currently in The Hague now with her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman, and reelected Senator Imee Marcos. Amid the political turmoil in the Philippine government due to the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the presidential sister took the side of the Dutertes.
According to Sen. Imee Marcos, she could not accept what was done to the former President. She opened a Senate investigation on his controversial arrest and asked the Ombudsman to investigate five (5) key officials in the controversial arrest of the former Chief Executive.
Duterte is currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands. Following his arrest last March 11, the former President was immediately flown out of the country for the transfer of his custody to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is faced with an accusation of crimes against humanity over his administration’s war on drugs. Following the arrest of the former President, Sen. Imee Marcos left the senatorial slate of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago endorsed by her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
According to the presidential sister, there are actions taken by the government that are not in line with her ideals and principles in life. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously expressed her gratitude to the Senator that the case of her father was also discussed in the Senate.
Vice Pres. Duterte also endorsed Sen. Marcos’ bid for reelection. She’s one of the Top 12 senatorial bets proclaimed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as senatorial race winners. Following the elections, she joined Duterte in going to The Hague.
However, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the ICC did not allow Sen. Imee Marcos to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Meanwhile, according to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, her father wanted her to extend his gratitude to the Senator and he even wants to talk to her.
“Nagpasalamat siya (kay Senator Imee). Gusto nga raw niyang makausap si Senator Imee kaso hindi nga raw payagan. Pero sabi niya there will be another time for that,” the Vice President said referring to FPRRD.
While in The Hague, Sen. Imee Marcos also met with Duterte’s lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman, in the pursuit to bring the former President home to the Philippines.
