Benjamin Alves Joins the Fun in ‘What Haffen Vella’ Craze
BENJAMIN ALVES – Fans were thrilled as Benjamin Alves joined the “What Haffen Vella” trend, posting Twilight-themed photos where he channels Jacob Black.
Benjamin Alves is hopping on the viral “What haffen Vella” trend in his own unique way. The Widows’ War actor recently delighted fans by sharing a nostalgic throwback on his official Facebook account — a Twilight-inspired photoshoot from several years ago.
In the photoshoot, originally featured in the Students and Campuses section of the Manila Bulletin, Benjamin took on the role of Jacob Black, the werewolf character made famous by Taylor Lautner. The project also featured Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards as Edward Cullen (originally played by Robert Pattinson), while theater actress Tippy Dos Santos embodied Bella Swan, originally portrayed by Kristen Stewart.
Benjamin added a humorous and on-trend caption to his post:
“Wah haffen vela? I know, Alden rayt? Once upon a time I hated vamfyrs rayt?”
The post has since gained traction, racking up over 700 reactions and numerous comments from amused fans. His playful nod to the viral trend resonated with many who are familiar with the recent resurgence of “Kalokalike” contestant Cristopher Diwata’s performance.
The phrase “What haffen Vella” became popular after Cristopher impersonated Taylor Lautner on It’s Showtime’s “Kalokalike” segment. His quirky and memorable performance — including his version of Jacob Black’s dramatic lines — instantly became an internet sensation.
Cristopher also appeared on Dapat Alam Mo!’s 2023 “Copy Face” contest, where he reprised the same impersonation. His newfound fame opened several doors, such as performing the viral “Dungka!” dance with SB19 and meeting other celebrities like Pinoy Big Brother’s Michael Sager.
In an interview with GMA News Online, Cristopher expressed deep gratitude for the unexpected blessings, saying: “’Yung sa mga concern, at alam ko sumusuporta kayo sa akin, salamat po. Pero sa bayad, dati nga sanay ako nang wala. Dati nga wala, ta’s ngayon, meron. Kaya kahit maliit man ‘yan, tatanggapin ko ‘yan. Iga-grab ko ‘yan kahit maliit. Sana sa mga nag-aalala sa akin, huwag niyong intindihin ‘yun at mas maganda ‘yung meron kaysa sa wala.”
