The new Miss Grand International 2024 is CJ Opiaza, the first from the Philippines.
Miss Grand International (MGI) organization finally made it official! PH’s CJ Opiaza is the new MGI 2024 queen, and she will be crowned on June 3.
The crownedย Miss Grand International 2024ย is Rachel Gupta of India, however, she was terminated due to her failure to fulfill her duties as the reigning queen. Gupta was terminated effective immediatelyย after she failed to โfulfill her assigned duties, engagement in external projects without prior approval from the organization, and her refusal to participate in the scheduled trip to Guatemala.โ
In a previous article, after she was removed from the title, Gupta spoke against the MGI organization, and revealed the mistreatment she received. Her experience was accordingly filled with โconstant harassment, mental torture, and systemic mistreatment,โ and she also made claims about vote-buying, which came through the form of donations that the organization also willingly accepted.
The other winners of the competition held last year were:
- 1st runner-up:ย Miss Grand Philippines Christine Juliane โCJโ Opiaza
- 2nd runner-up:ย Miss Grand Myanmar Thae Su Nyein
- 3rd runner-up:ย Miss Grand Franceย Safiรฉtou Kabengele
- 4th runner-up:ย Miss Grand Brazilย Talita Hartmann
This means that the Philippines’ CJ Opiaza is set to replace her, and recently, this has been made official by the organization. For the past years, the MGI crown has always been elusive to Pinay representatives. To recall, Nicole Cordoves and Samantha Bernado also finished as first runners-up in 2016 and 2020, respectively.
With Opiaza’s crowning this June 3, this is going to be the country’s first-ever MGI crown. The crowning will be held at the MGI hall in Bangkok, and there will be a live stream on YouTube for the enthusiasts to watch.
