Heaven Peralejo Triumphs in Japan for Horror Film Lilim, Wins Best Actress Award

HEAVEN PERALEJO – Heaven Peralejo’s win in Japan places her among the few Filipino actors who have received major international acting awards.

Filipina actress Heaven Peralejo received international recognition after winning the Best Actress award at the Jinseo Arigato International Film Festival in Nagoya, Japan. Her acclaimed performance in the psychological horror film Lilim, directed by celebrated filmmaker Mikhail Red, earned her this prestigious honor.

On May 25, Peralejo took to Instagram to express her emotions and gratitude. “Still in disbelief. Thank you for seeing me. Thank you for hearing me,” she wrote. She dedicated the award to director Mikhail Red, Evolve Studios, and her mother, Luanne Peralejo, saying, “We did it.”

She also acknowledged Viva Films for their trust and guidance throughout her journey in the film. Reflecting on the recognition, she shared how meaningful it was to be acknowledged for something she is deeply passionate about.

In her acceptance speech, Peralejo paid tribute to those who stood by her during times when she lacked confidence in herself. “This is for the people who believed in me when I didn’t even believe in myself,” she said, moving many with her sincerity.

Lilim was also a success for director Mikhail Red, who was honored with the Best Director award at the same festival. The film features a talented ensemble cast, including Eula Valdez, Ryza Cenon, Mon Confiado, and Skywalker David.

The movie premiered globally at the 54th International Film Festival Rotterdam in the Netherlands earlier this year, followed by its Philippine release in March. Peralejo’s role in the film has been lauded for its compelling and emotionally charged portrayal.

This milestone marks a significant breakthrough in Peralejo’s career, reinforcing her reputation as one of the most promising actresses in today’s Philippine film industry.
