These are the things the Department of Education is gearing up for in the coming school year.
The Department of Education revealed on Monday that there will be significant changes for the opening of School Year 2025–2026.
Major shifts and changes in the senior high school (SHS) core curriculum will be implemented in the upcoming new school year. From 15, there will be 5 core subjects which are Effective Communication (Mabisang Komunikasyon), Life and Career Skills, General Mathematics, General Science, and Pag-aaral ng Kasaysayan at Lipunang Pilipino.

These subjects will be taught accordingly in two semesters to promote better lesson retention and ease the academic workload. There will be four hours weekly to teach each, which will result in shorter daily schedules.
Elective subjects will still have a one-semester format. Students can freely choose from Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities; Business and Entrepreneurship; STEM; Sports, Health and Wellness; and Field Experience. For the Tech-Voc track, clusters include Agriculture and Fishery Arts, ICT, Family and Consumer Science, Industrial Arts, Maritime, and Work Immersion.
Also, the annual National Oplan Balik Eskwela will run from June 9 to 20, and based on a previous article, DepEd announced the hiring of 16,000 teachers for School Year 2025-2026. This was already approved by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
