Factory Worker Dies from Rabies Several Months After Dog Bite

Factory Worker Dies from Rabies After Dog Bite in August 2024

A factory worker from Laguna lost his life on May 18, 2025, due to rabies, several months after being bitten by a dog in August 2024.

The 31-year-old victim identified as Janelo Limbing was bitten by a tied-up dog that later showed signs of rabies, according to his partner Eva Peñalba. The dog’s eyes turned red and it became aggressive, so the family decided to put it down on the same day.

Janelo immediately received his first anti-rabies shot, which cost P2,500. However, he was not able to complete the full set of vaccinations. Eva shared that Janelo had plans to go back for his next dose but chose to prioritize work so he wouldn’t lose his earnings.

Finollow up ko po naman po na next schedule mo na…Busy nga raw po, sayang naman daw po yung kikitain niya,” Eva said.

On May 15, 2025, Janelo started feeling unwell. He had a fever and was brought to Cabuyao Hospital. At first, doctors thought it was just acid reflux, and he was sent home the next day. But soon after, his condition worsened. He began showing classic signs of rabies such as trouble breathing, fear of water, and discomfort with air.

Limbing was rushed to the hospital again, but by then he was confused and struggling to breathe. Doctors at the hospital said he had only around 48 hours left. He was referred to RITM in Alabang for further care.

Before he passed, Janelo was still able to leave a message for his wife and children, asking them to take care and expressing his love.

Just hours after arriving at RITM, Janelo died. Due to the dangers of rabies, specialists advised that his body be cremated for safety.
