Alora Sasam admitted that even though she was in the medical field, it has been her longtime dream to be in the entertainment industry. She was just silent about this because she knows the beauty standard in showbiz.

So siyempre quiet-quiet lang ako,” she said.

Alora shared that many members of their family already have successful careers in the medical field, so her parents wanted her to be a nurse and there was a clamor for this profession in the US. When she graduated, the recession came.

The actress shared that after passing the board exam, she was assigned to be a nurse in the pedia ward. It was a fulfilling profession for her as she would receive feedback from the parents of the patients she took care of.

So sa mga fast food nakikita mo ‘yung family ng patient, tapos lalapit sa’yo [at sasabihing], ‘Ma’am thank you so much.’ Parang ang saya. Iba ‘yung fulfillment,” Alora shared.

Even though that gave her happiness, her true passion was really acting. After six months of working as a nurse, she did not hesitate to join the Star Magic workshop held in Davao when she heard about this. It was an eight-hour bus ride away from their home in Cagayan de Oro. Alora had to take a week off to join the workshop.

After that, she was told to continue her training in Manila. Then, she auditioned for star maker Johnny Manahan, who was handling Star Magic at that time and she was able to grab a role in the teen series Luv U in 2012.
