Live-in Couple in Kabankalan City Lost Their Lives After Violent Fight
A live-in couple tragically lost their lives after a violent fight broke out between them in Kabankalan City.
A lover’s quarrel is a disagreement or argument between two people who are in a romantic relationship. These kinds of quarrels often involve personal issues, such as jealousy, misunderstandings, or differences in opinions or decisions.
While many lover’s quarrels are minor and get resolved quickly, some can become serious or emotionally intense, depending on the situation.
On Tuesday (May 20, 2025), a couple in Purok Eucalyptus, Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City died in a violent fight. The couple was identified as 26-year-old Marilie Satinyamian and her partner Fernan Pacunla.
Both were residents of the area where the incident happened. According to the Kabankalan City Police, the argument started when Fernan strongly disagreed with Marilie’s plan to return to Bacolod City to work as a housekeeper.
The heated argument quickly turned into a deadly fight. Both parties reportedly used sharp weapons against each other, including a bolo, knife, and a large blade. The incident turned violent inside their home while Marilie’s 6-year-old child was also present.

Marilie suffered multiple wounds and was rushed to Kabankalan District Hospital. Unfortunately, she was declared dead on arrival. Fernan, who was also seriously injured, was being transported to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City but died in the ambulance on the way.
Authorities recovered the weapons used in the altercation at the scene. The case has shocked the local community, especially because it happened in the presence of a young child who is now left without both parents.
Police are continuing their investigation, but initial reports suggest that the conflict stemmed from jealousy and disagreement over personal decisions. Social workers are now assisting the child, and further steps are being taken to ensure the child’s safety and well-being.
