This is the reason why Pia Wurtzbach decided to take her husband’s surname.
From Pia Romero to Pia Wurtzbach to Pia Jauncey. This is the reason why she decided to take her husband’s last name.
To recall, the show business industry first knew Miss Universe 2015 as Pia Romero when she joined at a young age. When she entered the pageant scene, she used her real name, which is Pia Wurtzbach, and eventually, this name became famous in the whole world and became synonymous with Miss Universe 2015 following her historic feat in the said international pageant.
In 2023, she marked yet another milestone in her life. Pia married travel entrepreneur Jeremy Jauncey, and two years later, she reintroduced herself as Pia Jauncey. On Instagram, she officially changed her name to Pia Jauncey, and in an interview for a local fashion magazine, as its latest cover star, she revealed the reason why she decided to do it.
As much as we all know, married women have the option to change their last names to use the surname of their husband, but it is not a duty. They can choose whether to continuously use her maiden name or make some changes.
For Pia, they are the Jaunceys now, and she expressed, “After a while, I started feeling like ‘Pia Wurtzbach’ didn’t feel right anymore.”
This also aligns with their plans in starting their own family. She said, “One day, when we have kids, I would want them to see that we share the same last name as their dad. It’s a bit of a traditional move for Jeremy, but it doesn’t really bother me.”
This is also her way of celebrating a new life that is secure and gentle after many years of hustling, being a breadwinner, and proving her worth.
