Winwyn Marquez had this moment on the MUPH stage
Miss Universe Philippines 2025 1st runner-up Winwyn Marquez shared the story of why she cried after the coronation.
Winwyn is one of the pageant veterans who joined this year’s pageant. Many pageant fans were rooting for her to represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe pageant.
In 2017, Winwyn already had an international pageant crown when she won Reina Hispanoamericana. She was the first Filipina who win the said title.
In a recent interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, based on the article in PEP, Winwyn Marquez shared what she did after the coronation night.
Winwyn said that she ate 5 pieces of sushi rolls and this was given to her by her partner’s sister. With this, she broke her strict diet. She also shared that she was supported financially by Muntinlupa’s LGU with her costume and the video they created for this.
In the same interview, the Kapuso actress also shared the connection she had with her fellow candidates. Talking to the 69 candidates, King of Talk Boy Abunda found out that Winwyn Marquez was well-loved.
Proof of this was when the candidates went to her after Miss Universe Philippines 2025 Ahtisa Manalo was crowned.
“Tapos na po kasi yung coronation. We were lined up. I was looking back with the other candidates na nasa likod. Siyempre, I formed a relationship with them,” she shared.
She turned around thinking that she wanted to go to her fellow candidates at the back to ask how they were and to talk to them. When Winwyn was walking towards them, the candidates walked in her direction and then they hugged her.
“I think, dun lang po talaga ako umiyak. Hindi dahil hindi ko nakuha yung korona. Dun ako naiyak because they told me na, ‘Ate, thank you for being our ate,’” she said.
Fans noticed how happy Winwyn was when Ahtisa’s name was called as the winner. The Kapuso actress said that everyone wanted to win the crown but she believes that it is destiny for one person and it happened it was Ahtisa.
“I want to celebrate other people’s success. That’s me, ganoon ako pinalaki,” she said. Winwyn Marquez added that this world is being unkind already and it is a good thing to uplift others and she wants someone to be happy in their own moment.
Meanwhile, Winwyn said that this would be her last pageant.
