Sam Verzosa Accepts Defeat in Manila Mayoral Race, Vows to Continue Serving the City

SAM VERZOSA – Businessman Sam Verzosa gracefully accepts his defeat in the Manila mayoral race, thanking the city’s residents for their unwavering support throughout his campaign.

In an emotional post on social media, businessman and former congressman Sam Verzosa gracefully acknowledged his loss to former mayor Isko Moreno in the 2025 Manila mayoral election. Despite the surprising result, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Manileños who supported his campaign.

“Ngayong gabi, buong puso kong tinatanggap ang desisyon ng taumbayan,” Verzosa wrote, reflecting on the challenges of the campaign, particularly as a newcomer to the city’s political scene. He shared that the encouragement he received from the public, including handshakes, hugs, and pats on the back, kept him motivated.

“Hindi po biro ang laban na ating hinarap,” he continued, stressing that the campaign was more than just about winning—it was about giving a voice to those who had been overlooked for too long. Verzosa explained that their objective was to improve public discourse and highlight issues that had long been ignored.

He offered his congratulations to Isko Moreno and wished for the city’s prosperity under his leadership. “Nais ko pong batiin ang nanalong kandidato. Hiling ko na ang kanyang tagumpay ay tagumpay rin ng buong lungsod,” he said. Verzosa expressed his belief that Moreno’s victory should reflect the collective triumph of Manila.

Although he didn’t win, Verzosa reassured the public that his dedication to service would persist. He committed to continuing his advocacy for improvements in healthcare, education, livelihoods, and governance. “Magpapatuloy po ako sa pagseserbisyo sa ating bayan sa abot ng aking makakaya,” he declared.

He wrapped up his message by expressing his gratitude to the people of Manila: “Maraming Salamat, Maynila. Mahal ko po kayo. Mabuhay ang ating lungsod. Mabuhay ang sambayanang Pilipino.”
