Shortly After Voting, 65-Year-Old Man Felt Dizzy & Died
A 65-year-old man identified as Nestor Rensales died after he casted his votes for the 2025 Elections in Oas, Albay.
Both local and national elections are held today for the 2025 Midterm polls. Millions of Filipino voters went out to cast their votes at their assigned precincts. While there were areas when the elections were smooth, there were also those when certain unfortunate incidents were recorded.

Aside from the fatalities recorded in Silay, Negros Occidental due to possible election-related shooting incident, in Albay, there is another case of death — a 65-year-old man died after casting his votes at the Oas South Central Elementary School.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the male voter who died after casting his vote was identified as Nestor Rensales. He was with his wife when he went to the Oas South Central Elementary School to vote.

Based on the report, Rensales and his wife arrived early at their voting precincts. According to the police, after voting, the 65-year-old man waited for his wife, Juana Rensales, while she was still in the queue to vote.
After his wife finished voting, he told his her that he feels dizzy. He suddenly lost consciousness as per Albay police spokesperson Maj. Ma Luisa A Tino.
“Yung matanda na yun katatapos noya lang magboto, hinihintay niya yung asawa niya na nakapila pa din. Noong lumabas yung asawa niya nagsabi siya na parang nahihilo siya yun, bigla na lang siyang nahimatay,” Tino said.
Based on the report, Juana Rensales said her husband was a stroke survivor. They were already at the polling center as early as 5:00 a.m. to vote. According to her, she tried to convince her husband not to vote anymore due to the hot weather but he insisted.
“Sabi ko nga wag ka ng bumoto kasi mainit, pero pinilit niya. Sabi niya, kaya ko pa man aniya bumoto. Sayang ang boto, kaya nakapaboto pa siya,” the wife of the 65-year-old man said.
According to Juana Rensales, they usually arrive at the voting precinct early every elections. She stressed that the teachers who will be serving at the elections will be voting first so they have to wait. She stressed that her husband does not have enough patience to wait and the weather is hot.
Based on the report, the wife of the 65-year-old man said that her husband was marking his thumbmark on his ballot while she was still voting and that was when he lost consciousness. He was brought to Josefina Belmonte Duran Albay Provincial Hospital in Ligao City but he was declared dead-on-arrival.
