House Speaker Martin Romualdez Asked about Impeachment Complaint vs. Marcos Jr. amid Elections
MARTIN ROMUALDEZ – The House Speaker spoke on the impeachment complaint attempted to be filed against Philippine President Bongbong Marcos.
Amid the looming impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte which she said her lawyers are ready to win over, an impeachment complaint was attempted to be filed against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. It was over the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

The complainants led by Duterte Youth Party-List chairperson Ronald Cardema accused Pres. Bongbong Marcos of allegedly committing a violation of the Philippine constitution and public trust over Duterte’s arrest. He and his wife went to the House of Representatives to file the impeachment rap.
However, the Office of the Secretary General refused to accept the impeachment complaint against Marcos Sr. due to the absence of the House Secretary General at the office. Also, the office of the SecGen is scheduled for a strategic planning seminar from May 5 to May 8.

According to Mr. Cardema, they will return to the House of Representatives next week to file the impeachment complaint against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The Chief Executive previously earned a lot of criticisms on social media for allowing Duterte’s arrest.

Recently, House Speaker Martin Romualdez was asked about the impeachment complaint attempted to be filed against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a post on Inquirer, the presidential cousin stressed that the Congress is currently not in a session.
“We’re not in session right now so not much can be done, di ba? At sa alam ko po, miski ‘yung SecGen’s office naka seminar sila ngayon so we have to wait for the proper time to consider that,” he said.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez was also asked for his reaction on the timing of the attempt to file an impeachment complaint against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. He stressed that he does not know what urged the complainants to file the impeachment rap but he let them be.
“Well… I really don’t know what inspired them. Hayaan mo na lang sila,” he said in the post.
The controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has divided the Marcoses and the Dutertes even more. Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly committed an “impeachable offense” over the arrest of her father.
