6-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Electrocuted While Plugging in Phone Charger

A 6-year-old girl in Cadiz, Negros Occidental tragically lost her life after being electrocuted while trying to plug a cellphone charger into an outlet.

Electrocution is when a person gets injured or dies because of a strong electric shock. It happens when electricity passes through the body, usually after touching a live wire, an exposed metal part of a plug, or faulty electrical equipment.

Electrocution can cause burns, heart problems, difficulty breathing, or even death, especially if the shock is very strong or lasts too long. It’s very dangerous, especially for children, which is why it’s important to be extra careful around electrical outlets and devices.

Recently, a young girl was holding her cellphone before she attempted to plug the charger into the outlet inside their home. Unfortunately, her finger made contact with the metal part of the plug, causing her to receive a strong electric shock.

Her father witnessed the incident but everything happened so fast. The child collapsed after the electrocution and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Despite the quick response, doctors were not able to save her life.

The incident shows how dangerous electrical appliances and outlets can be, especially for young children. Kids are naturally curious and may not fully understand the risks involved in using chargers or plugging in devices on their own.

Safety experts urge parents and guardians to take extra precautions at home. This includes using outlet covers, keeping chargers and electronic devices out of reach, and teaching children never to handle plugs without adult supervision.

It’s also important to check if chargers or outlets are damaged, as they can pose serious threats if not properly maintained. A few simple safety measures can make a big difference in preventing similar accidents in the future.

  1. Why don’t manufactures of these chargers or outlets design something that will be shockproof? I mean, design should have protection so that children/adults will not be prone to accidental shock.
