Camille Villar Alleged Vote-Buying, Comelec Releases Decision

There was a disqualification case against Camille Villar

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) released a decision regarding the allegation that senatorial candidate Camille Villar committed vote-buying.

Camille came from a prominent family in business and politics. In the 2025 elections, she filed her certificate of candidacy for senator. Currently, her mother Cynthia Villar, and brother Mark Villar are serving as senators.

A complaint was raised against Camille while the campaign period was taking place. She was accused of vote-buying.

Reportedly, during a campaign event in Cavite, Camille Villar was standing with local officials on stage. At that time, a female “winner” of an event received money.

With this, Comelec asked Camille to explain what happened and why she should not be disqualified because of this. She stressed that this happened on February 9 which was before the official campaign period started, based on the article in ABS-CBN.

Camille denied that it was vote-buying and stressed that it was an ALLTV2 Network promotional event and she was invited as a guest. Her family owns the media company.

On May 7, Comelec released a reply to Camille’s explanation. “The Committee on Kontra Bigay takes cognizance of your Answer and considers it to have satisfactorily explained the circumstances surrounding the reported act of alleged vote-buying,” the agency said.

Comelec also said that upon gathering information, it was found that there was insufficient evidence to proceed to a disqualification case.

Meanwhile, Camille Villar was endorsed by President Bongbong Marcos after she was not mentioned during two Alyansa campaign sorties. To recall, earlier this month, during a campaign sortie in Batangas, the Chief Executive did not mention Camille’s name as part of the administration’s senatorial candidates. It was also clarified that the daughter of Manny and Cynthia Villar is still part of the Alyansa.
