Late actor Ricky Davao and Mayeth Darroca have been together for more than three years, and the latter has this message for the actor.
Frederick Charles Caballes Davao, professionally known as Ricky Davao, died at the age of 63 on Thursday, May 1. This was confirmed by his family, and his death added to the list of icons who passed away this year.
Ricky died due to complications related to cancer, according to his daughter, Ara Davao. Messages of sympathy started to pour in for the veteran actor, and several celebrities paid tribute to him. As someone whose career spanned over four decades in the industry, he has worked with a lot, and this lot of artists spoke good words about him, his skill, and his professionalism.
In a post, his non-showbiz partner of over three years spoke about him and recalled his final moments. In an open letter she dedicated to her “Bubba,” whom she also regarded as the “bravest and strongest person” she had ever known, she lamented about not feeling right in her life when she lost him.
She recalled how he fiercely fought and that the best decision of her life was staying with him until he left. When he was still alive, battling cancer, he would always ask her if she ever got tired of taking care of him, and she would always just have one answer: “I will never get tired of taking care of you, because we are in this journey together.”
“I didn’t fully believe in the idea of unconditional love. But loving you changed that,” she continued, and added, “Thank you—for your love, for your courage, for your trust, and for letting me walk with you through your most difficult days.”
His death left an emptiness in her that nothing can fill.
