Pinay OFW Wraps Luggage in Plastic at Airport for Safety
A Pinay OFW wrapped her luggage in plastic at the airport to ensure the safety of her belongings.
Recently, Bohol Girl, a Facebook user, shared photos of her luggage wrapped tightly in plastic at a Philippine airport, along with a handwritten note saying the bag was clean and free of any illegal items. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
It was her way of protecting herself from possible scams, particularly the feared “Laglag-Bala” or “Tanim-Bala” scheme.

The Pinay OFW shared her feelings of discomfort, saying it’s sad that she no longer feels safe in her own country, where she should feel at home.
The note on her luggage stated that the bag had been checked and scanned in Germany, which has strict airport security. She also mentioned that her elderly mother was waiting for her, emphasizing the importance of a smooth and hassle-free trip.
Many netizens agreed with her decision, saying it’s better to be safe than sorry. Others shared similar concerns, especially after hearing news of scams involving airport luggage. Some added that wrapping luggage also helps protect it from damage during travel.

However, not everyone agreed. Some internet users called the move overly dramatic, pointing out that plastic wrapping is common in many international airports. They said issues can happen anywhere, not just in the Philippines.
The OFW explained that she posted the photos to help spread awareness. As a nurse working in Germany, she returned to the Philippines to pick up her senior citizen mother for a flight to Australia.
The woman praised NAIA for assisting her mother and hoped for safer and scam-free experiences for all travelers in the future.
