Lady Passenger Shares Disturbing Experience at Airport
MODUS OPERANDI – A lady passenger has warned her fellow travelers about the alleged passport tearing at an airport.
Recently, Roselyn Sabalo, a Facebook user, shared her troubling experience at an airport in the Philippines before her flight. The post quickly circulated on social media and elicited comments from the internet users.
Sabalo said her passport was in perfect condition when she arrived at the Davao airport. But after making a payment during the check-in process, she noticed a small tear on the upper right corner of her passport.

The seemingly minor damage became a major problem; she was not allowed to board her flight because of it.
However, Roselyn wasn’t alone, two other members of her tour group also had torn passports, and they too were stopped from boarding. All of them claimed that their documents were fine when they arrived and only noticed the damage after handing over their passports during processing.
Many travelers shared similar stories or reminded others to stay vigilant with their important documents.

The lady passenger reminded her fellow travelers to always double-check their passports, not just before a trip, but also after giving it to anyone at the airport.

“FOR AWARENESS OF ALL TRAVELERS:
I was thinking about whether to post this or not but I have to share my worst experience here at our airport in the Philippines.
This is the reason why I couldn’t board or check in with the airline because there was a tear on the upper right side of my passport (see pic). I wondered why there was a tear, my passport was fine at Davao airport. I just paid for something for a while then when I came back I was shocked that they said we couldn’t leave because my passport was torn. I wondered why there was a tear on that page, I don’t know what happened while they had my passport while I paid for something. It’s alarming because three of us couldn’t leave on a group tour internationally, same case, the passport was torn.
Be careful who you give your passport to, especially at the airport. Before you give it to them for checking, show that there is nothing wrong or torn in your passports. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PASSPORTS UNATTENDED, if you owe anything, pay it immediately so you don’t leave your passport with them.”
The social media users expressed their reactions to the incident:
