Statement of Malacañang amid the Month-Long Voting Period for OFWs Abroad
MALACAÑANG – The Palace issued a statement for the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) voters amid the month-long voting period abroad for the 2025 Midterm Elections.
The Philippines is once again in the midst of an election season. This coming May 12, countless Filipinos are expected and encouraged to exercise their right to vote. Both local and national elections are set to be held.

Previously, President Bongbong Marcos has already advised the Filipino people to reject “all talk” candidates in the 2025 Elections and choose the ones who really work. The Chief Executive backs the senatorial slate of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago which was recently departed by his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, who is seeking reelection.
While the voting day in the Philippines is on May 12, 2025, in the case of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), it is a month-long voting period set by the Commission on Elections. Based on the COMELEC schedule, the voting period abroad has started yesterday, April 13.

Amid the on-going voting period for the overseas Filipino workers for the 2025 Midterm polls, Malacañang issued a reminder to the OFW voters. Based on a report on GMA News, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro appealed to OFWs to fulfill their responsibilities as Filipinos and vote right.

Based on the report, Castro told the OFWs not only to vote right but also to vote from the heart. She advised the voters not to vote based on hearsay or because you have received an amount of money from someone.
“Gampanan niyo po ang inyong tungkulin bilang isang Pilipino. Bumoto po kayo nang nararapat. Bumoto po mula sa puso,” the Malacañang press officer said.
The Palace Press Officer further advised the OFW voters of the 2025 Midterm Elections to vote for the people who are trustworthy and those leaders who will not sell the country in any way. She also called on the OFWs to vote for patriotic people.
“Kundi iboto niyo po ang mga taong nararapat, ‘yung maasahan natin, mga lider na hindi ibebenta ang bansa kahit sa anumang paraan at mga lider na makabayan,” she said.
Based on the report, the COMELEC has announced that OFW voters can now cast their votes online for the 2025 Midterm Elections as all the 77Online Voting and Counting System (OVCS) posts abroad have been opened.
