Viral Interview of Dennis Padilla Followed by Marjorie Barretto Defending her Children
Marjorie Barretto, contrary to Dennis Padilla’s claim, claimed that Claudia does not want him to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.
Recently, the netizens feasted on the issue between actor-comedian Dennis Padilla and his children, Julia, Claudia, and Leon Barretto. It was after Dennis had an interview with Ogie Diaz saying that he’s done in his efforts to reconcile with his children following what allegedly happened at the wedding of Claudia.
Dennis revealed his disappointment for not being given a significant role at the wedding of Claudia with her long-time boyfriend, Basti Lorenzo. According to him, he was allegedly treated as a visitor and not as a father of the bride.
During his interview with Ogie Diaz, Dennis Padilla claimed that he no longer sees reconciliation with his children. According to him, he will not give them any chance to see him or talk to him. He stressed that he will carry it to his funeral and the next time that they will see him is in his casket already.
The Barretto siblings undeniably earned backlash following the interview of their father. They were called disrespectful and many other negative tags for how they allegedly treated their father. Marjorie Barretto also earned criticisms from some netizens over the relationship of her children with their estranged dad.
Dennis Padilla expressed his belief that Claudia does not want what allegedly happened at the wedding. According to him, he can see it in the eyes of his daughter that she allegedly wants him to walk her down the aisle and to sit in front as her father.
Recently, in an interview with Ogie Diaz, Marjorie Barretto broke her silence on the claims of Dennis Padilla. She stressed that her ex-husband did not say it in his entire interview but he allegedly wants to make it appear like she is the mastermind behind the wedding. According to her, she was actually the one who convinced Claudia to invite him.
“Claudia has been estranged. Si Claudia ang pinaka distant. Maybe there are different ways that the children cope. Itong leading to her wedding, she wanted it very private. Hindi niya shine-share ‘yung engagement. She was engaged for some time. And she didn’t wanna share the wedding. She wanted a peaceful… Hindi naman sila showbiz. Pero kino-convince ko sila, siya [Claudia], that the right thing to do is to invite the father.”
According to Marjorie Barretto, some people even asked her why she kept on telling Claudia to invite Dennis Padilla. The former actress stressed that she came to a point when she just told her daughter not to listen to her but instead pray for it.
“God knows. Alam ng Diyos. Alam ng lahat ng mga anak ko. Sometimes it caused friction because they’re not friends eh. They’re estranged sila eh. I said, ‘You know what’s the right thing to do to start your life. Just think about it. I wasn’t getting anywhere. Minsan fini-feeling the iban, ‘Marjie, why are you forcing her to invite someone that she doesn’t want to be there?’ It’s a very intimate wedding eh… One day, I said, ‘ Claudia, pray about it. Don’t listen to me. Don’t listen to what I’m saying. Ipagdasal mo,”
During the interview, Marjorie Barretto claimed that Claudia agreed to invite Dennis Padilla but she does not want her father to walk her down the aisle. Before explaining her reason, she clarified her hope that her daughter will not be bashed for her decision and said that walking down the aisle holds a significant meaning of handing over the daughter that you protected, cared for, provided for, and raised to someone who will be the in-charge of her after the wedding. She stressed that Dennis and Claudia are estranged.

Marjorie Barretto stressed that they agreed not to walk her down the aisle. She also claimed that Claudia has informed Dennis Padilla about it when they met prior to the wedding. According to her, she only fixed her veil before reaching the altar, held her hand and walked a very short distance, then turned to her seat.
Amid the bashing that the Barretto family is receiving, several attendees at the wedding of Claudia and Basti disproved Dennis Padilla’s claim and showed that he was treated well.
