Statement of Malacañang on the Deaths of Businessman Anson Que, his Driver

Malacañang released a statement on the killing of businessman Anson Que and his driver whose bodies were found in Rizal.

After more than a week of being missing, Chinese-Filipino steel magnate Anson Que or also known as Anton Tan was found in Rodriguez, Rizal. According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), there were two (2) dead bodies found – the remains of the Chinoy business tycoon and his driver.

It was last March 29 when Anson Que was last seen leaving their office in Valenzuela City at around 2:00 p.m. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the family of the steel business magnate reported about his disappearance to the police authorities the following day.

The family of Que reportedly asked the PNP to make a discreet and private investigation of the disappearance of the Chinoy businessman who missed his appointments since the 29th of March.

Earlier today, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla confirmed the death of businessman Anson Que and his driver. The PNP’s Highway Patrol Group (HPG) found the last vehicle used by the victims in Quezon City.

Based on the report, the authorities are looking into the angle of Que being taken for the extraction of ransom money from his camp. The perpetrators allegedly asked for money but the situation still led to the death of the businessman and his driver.

The death of Anson Que is surrounded by several speculations and issues. Recently, Malacañang broke its silence on the passing of the steel business magnate and his driver that shocked countless Filipinos.

Malacañang press officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro stressed that the government promises to act on the case of Anson Que and his driver. Based on the report, the Palace stressed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos really ordered the authorities to investigate the case which is also in the pursuit of lessening the same crime to happen again in the future.

“Patuloy po ang pag-iimbestiga po dito. Hindi po ito tutulugan ng gobyerno. Ang lahat po na nagaganap dito ay pinagbilin po ng Pangulo na dapat imbestigahang mabuti para po ma-lessen o ma-eradicate ang mga ganitong klaseng krimen dito sa Pilipinas,” the Malacañang press officer said.

PNP spokesperson Police BGen. Jean Fajardo said that there were bruises and some body injuries in the bodies of the two (2) victims. Their remains were found in a grassy area in Barangay Macabud.
