Is it true that Johnny Manahan will leave GMA?
Rumor has it that “starmaker” Johnny Manahan, also known as Mr. M, will handle the talent management firm of TV5 or the Kapatid Network.
Johnny started as a director. He directed sitcoms and eventually became the head of Star Magic, the talent management company of ABS-CBN. For more than two decades, Johnny has helped showbiz newbies become household names.
With his power to identify one’s star factor, he became a well-respected starmaker in the Philippine entertainment industry. A few years ago, he resigned from Star Magic, and the vacant seat was eventually with Direk Laurenti Dyogi.
Mr. M is still close to some past and present talents of Star Magic, such as Kapuso star Heart Evangelista, and Kapamilya stars Jericho Rosales, Sam Milby, and many more. He and these celebrities would have their gatherings and bonding moment once in a while, just like what happened last year.
Then, Johnny Manahan became GMA’s consultant, especially for the network’s talent management company Sparkle GMA Artist Center. He also directed the TV singing competition, The Voice Generations and The Voice Kids.
Just recently, speculations surfaced that Mr. M will transfer to the Kapatid network. Allegedly, the veteran showbiz personality no longer has a contract with GMA, based on the article in Pilipino Star Ngayon.
He spent a few years in GMA, but he was not visible during Sparkle events. It was said that TV5 will also have its own talent management company, and Mr. M will be a big help to establish stable stars in showbiz.
Reportedly, the partnership between TV5 and ABS-CBN Studio will last until 2027. Some Kapamilya shows have been airing on the Kapatid network for a few years now. With this soon-to-end partnership, it was said that TV5 is preparing to have its own talents.
