Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Gives Message for Filipinos on Araw ng Kagitingan
SARA DUTERTE – As we celebrate the Araw ng Kagitingan, the Vice President called on the Filipinos to build a nation that won’t suffer again.
It is a regular holiday today in the Philippines for the celebration of the Araw ng Kagitingan or the Day of Valor. This year marks the 83rd year of annually commemorating the heroism of thousands of Filipinos who defended Bataan.

The Araw ng Kagitingan today, April 9, is one of the five (5) regular holidays in the Philippines this April 2025. The holiday declaration for today gives countless Filipinos the chance to participate in the programs and other events in line with the celebration.
On April 9, 1942, thousands of Filipinos offered their lives to free the country during the World War II. It is known as the Battle of Bataan or the Fall of Bataan. As we commemorate the 83rd anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan of the Bataan heroes, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte issued a statement for the Filipinos.

On Araw ng Kagitingan today, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that the bravery shown by the heroes that defended Bataan show the courage and heroism of the Filipino people. She expressed her hope that the heroism of our ancestors will serve as an inspiration to every Filipino amid the country facing different challenges that test our unity.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also expressed that the Filipino heroes who defended Bataan have won the hope and the power that can keep us pushing forward despite the challenges now. Based on the report, she called on the people to build a nation that will not suffer again.
“Ipagdiwang natin ang kanilang alaala sa pamamagitan ng pagtatag ng isang bansang kailanma’y hindi na muling daranas ng gayong pagdurusa,” the Vice President said.
Vice Pres. Duterte has just returned to the Philippines from the Netherlands last Sunday. She was in The Hague for more than three (3) weeks for her father, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He is under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) due to allegations of crimes against humanity over his war on drugs campaign.
The arrest of Duterte has caused political turmoil in the Philippines. The President is hugely blamed over the unexpected turn of events last March 11. Aside from VP Sara, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also gave a message for the Filipinos on Araw ng Kagitingan.
