SHAMCEY SUPSUP – The Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner-Up officially quit the team Kaya This after the viral single mom joke of their bet for congressman.
Countless netizens reacted on the viral joke of a Pasig candidate for congressman about women solo parents. The congressional candidate was Atty. Christian “Ian” Sia who is a member of the team Kaya This.
At a caucus meeting in Pasig, Atty. Ian Sia addressed the crowd saying that single mothers who still have their monthly period and are lonely may sleep with him once a year. According to him, they just have to go to the table at the side to have their name listed.
The joke of the Pasig congressional candidate reportedly drew laughter from the crowd. However, it did not sit well with many netizens on social media. He earned bashing and criticisms from the netizens.
Even Atty. Ian Sia recognized that he was called “rude” many times online over his joke. According to him, this is the first time that this happened to him amid his 15 years of being in the political arena.
Later on, the Pasig candidate apologized over his ‘single mom’ joke. According to him, his intention was to awaken the audience and get their attention. He claimed that the crowd already seemed bored when it was his time to speak as many candidates have already spoken before him.
Atty. Ian Sia also claimed that the one that must be blamed is not him but the uploader of the video. According to him, the uploader of the video did not include the part that shows the reaction of the audience to his joke. He stressed that the crowd was laughing at the joke.
The Pasig congressional candidate stressed that a joke must remain a joke and should not divert the focus on the election. Not only the ordinary citizens but even some known individuals reacted to his controversial remark about the solo parents.
Actress Angelu de Leon reacted to the Pasig candidate’s joke on single moms. Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner-up Shamcey Supsup also called out Atty. Ian Sia for his joke. Recently, the beauty queen made another staunch move.
Shamcey Supsup officially left the team Kaya This which endorses the congressional bid of Atty. Ian Sia. The beauty queen was running for councilor in the first district of Pasig under the said team.
According to Shamcey, she thought well about her decision and she made it with full respect to her fellow aspirants, to the Miss Universe Philippines Organization, and to the many women and girls who look to her for strength and clarity. The beauty queen stressed that she stands by dignity, respect, accountability, and women empowerment.
Based on the post, Shamcey Supsup expressed her belief that the best way to stay with her principles is to take a step back, reflect, and listen. Meanwhile, she ended her statement by expressing her gratitude to Kaya This.
