Eraserheads’ Marcus Adoro Steps Down Amid R*pe Allegations

Marcus Adoro Withdraws from Eraserheads Events Following R*pe Allegations

MARCUS ADORO – Eraserheads’ guitarist Marcus Adoro has stepped down from the band’s upcoming engagements following explosive allegations of r*pe that recently surfaced online.

Marcus Adoro, the lead guitarist of legendary OPM band Eraserheads, will no longer participate in the group’s upcoming events after new accusations of r*pe surfaced on social media.

A Reddit user, under the username @NMomThrowaway12345, alleged that Adoro sexually assaulted her when she was still in high school. In her post titled “the beloved Marcus Adoro of the Eraserheads r*ped me when I was in high school,” she claimed that Adoro told her she was “lucky” he didn’t “go all the way.” She also accused him of harming other individuals.

The same user criticized both the band and Diane Ventura, director of the Eraserheads’ documentary and ex-wife of frontman Ely Buendia, for allegedly protecting Adoro’s image and using the band’s legacy for profit. She expressed frustration at the band members — Buendia, Buddy Zabala, and Raimund Marasigan — calling them hypocrites for previously condemning abuse while still working with Adoro.

In response, Ely Buendia issued a statement on April 6 through his social media channels, stating that Adoro would be stepping back from the band’s ongoing projects. “We acknowledge the recent allegations that have surfaced online. As proponents of justice, we unequivocally condemn all criminal acts and stand against abuse of any form. Above all, we seek the truth,” Buendia wrote. He added that the band will continue with their plans “with humility and deep respect for the truth and social responsibility.”

As of now, Adoro has not released any public response regarding the new claims.

This is not the first time Adoro has faced abuse allegations. In 2019, his daughter, indie musician Syd Hartha, and his former partner, actress Barbara Ruaro, accused him of physical and emotional abuse. Adoro later addressed his daughter in an open letter, asking for a chance at redemption.

Meanwhile, the Eraserheads are promoting their documentary Combo on the Run and are set to headline the Electric Fun Music Festival on May 31 in Parañaque, joined by bands such as Itchyworms, Moonstar88, and Imago.
