MMDA Official Gabriel Go Issues Public Apology for Shaming Police Officer in QC

MMDA official Gabriel Go has apologized to NAPOLCOM for publicly shaming a police officer during a clearing operation.

Recently, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Special Operations Group Head Gabriel Go personally visited the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) to apologize for his actions during a clearing operation in Quezon City, where he was accused of humiliating a police officer.

During a discussion with NAPOLCOM Commissioner Atty. Rafael Calinisan, Go admitted that his emotions got the best of him. He explained that his job keeps him on the streets from morning until night, which sometimes leads to stress and frustration.

However, he acknowledged that emotions should not interfere with professional duties, especially during operations.

Sir, if you are listening to this, ako po ay humihingi ng paumanhin sa inyo dahil po sa nangyari. It is not my intention na magkaroon ng ganung hindi maayos na pangyayari at pakikitungo po,” Go said.

Go also directly apologized to the police officer involved, expressing regret over how he handled the situation. He assured that there was no intention to create misunderstandings or cause unnecessary conflicts during the clearing operation.

Commissioner Calinisan reminded officials and personnel to always uphold respect and humanity when carrying out their duties. He emphasized that teamwork and cooperation between agencies are essential to maintaining order and public service.

“Vinideohan mo pa ‘yung tao nang hindi niya nalalaman. Wala rin namang consent niya. Clear violation of the Data Privacy Act. Extremely libelous ‘yung ginawa din niya,” he reiterated.

Despite the incident, NAPOLCOM assured that its relationship with MMDA and other police institutions remains strong. The agency also reiterated its commitment to protecting MMDA personnel while ensuring that proper protocols are followed in all operations.

While the police officer accepted Go’s apology, he is still considering filing a case. He believes that doing so will serve as a lesson and raise awareness about the importance of proper conduct in government operations.
