Oil Price Hike to Take Effect on Tuesday (April 1, 2025), DOE Says

FUEL PRICE UPDATE – The Department of Energy announced an oil price hike marking the second consecutive week of increases.

On Tuesday (April 1, 2025), Filipino motorists should prepare for higher fuel prices as oil companies implement another round of price hikes. The looming oil price hike marks the second consecutive week of increases.

  • Gasoline will go up by P1.40 per liter
  • Diesel will increase by P1.20 per liter
  • Kerosene will also rise by P1.20 per liter

Shell, Seaoil, Caltex, and Petro Gazz will apply the new rates starting at 6:00 a.m. Cleanfuel will follow later in the day at 4:01 p.m.

The Department of Energy’s Oil Industry Management Bureau attributed the price surge to several global issues. The recent U.S. sanctions on Iran, potential tariffs on countries purchasing Venezuelan crude, and continued disruptions in energy facilities due to conflicts in Russia and Ukraine have all contributed to the increase.

The upcoming adjustment follows last week’s hike, which saw gasoline rise by P1.10 per liter, while diesel and kerosene increased by P0.40 per liter. With these back-to-back increases, the total price adjustment for the year now stands at P3.25 per liter for both gasoline and diesel. Kerosene, however, has experienced a net decrease of P0.30 per liter as of March 25, 2025.

Other oil firms are expected to announce their own adjustments soon. Motorists are advised to plan their fuel purchases accordingly as the rising costs may impact transportation expenses in the coming weeks.
