Update on 7.7 Magnitude Myanmar Earthquake Impact
MYANMAR EARTHQUAKE – Junta chief General Min Aung Hlaing appealed for international aid following the devastation caused by the 7.7 magnitude quake.
Earthquakes are among the natural calamities that can hardly be predicted as many experts would agree on. In several nations most especially those lying in the Pacific Ring of Fire are prone to this type of natural calamity as it is a region where many tectonic plates meet and interact.

Several countries across the globe usually record multiple occurrence of quakes in their areas. There are quakes with intensities that can hardly be felt while there are those that caused massive destructions.
Recently, a magnitude 7.7 Myanmar earthquake brought massive damages to several structures in the different regions in the country. It flattened buildings leaving numerous deaths.

The United States Geological Survey or the USGS recorded the quake in central Myanmar around 17.2 kilometers from the city of Mandalay. It is the second biggest city in the country with around 1.5 million people.

The Myanmar earthquake hit at a depth of 10 kilometers or 6.2 miles and urged the search and rescue operations to double time as many people are calling for help. Based on a report on GMA News, General Min Aung Hlaing, the chief of Myanmar’s military Junta, appealed for help and donations from “any country”.
A rescue worker from the ancient city of Amarapura revealed that 30 bodies of people were found from a collapsed multi-story apartment blocks. According to him, their town is like a collapsed city now which he has never experienced until the 7.7 magnitude quake hit their region yesterday.
“We received calls for help from people from the inside, but we cannot help because we do not have enough manpower and machines to remove the debris, but we will not stop working,” the rescuer said.
Based on the report, following the appeal of the Junta Chief for international help after the strong 7.7 magnitude earthquake has flattened their buildings and cost over a hundred of lives, United States President Donald Trump assured that their country will extend aid.
“We’re going to be helping,” Trump expressed.
As of this writing, records state that the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar has cost 144 lives and left 732 individuals injured. However, the authorities project that the numbers will still rise as the search and rescue operations continue.
