Mariz Umali Shares Post About “Hate” After “Matanda” Issue

Mariz Umali shared this intriguing post

Kapuso reporter Mariz Umali shared a post about “hate” after receiving criticism for allegedly calling former Executive Secretary Atty. Salvador Medialdea “matanda.”

The issue started when Mariz covered the story about former President Rodrigo Duterte who was brought to the Netherlands to face the International Criminal Court. Medialdea, FPRRD’s executive secretary, had a health struggle and Mariz was accused of calling him “matanda.”

A video of her circulated online and this did not sit well with the supporters of the former President. The Kapuso reporter explained that he did not mention “matanda.” She stressed that what she said was “mata nya” because according to her, Medialdea suddenly closed his eyes when he saw her.

Tingnan mo yung ‘mata niya’ (Medialdea), nakabukas siya nung una pero nung nakita niya ako, pinikit,'” Mariz explained what she said at that time.

Amid the issue, veteran broadcaster Mon Tulfo criticized Mariz Umali. However, netizens slammed Mon for his inappropriate remark.

Despite the bashing that she received, Mariz was defended by her husband reporter Raffy Tima, and her fellow journalist Joseph Morong.

Days after the massive criticism that Mariz received, she shared an intriguing post, based on the article in Balita. On her Facebook post on March 24, the Kapuso reporter shared this post encouraging positivity.

“Radiating positivity in a world that needs more light. Good vibes only—no space for hate.’ Thanks guys! You are angels sent from above,” she wrote in her Facebook post.

Meanwhile, Mariz Umali became a trending topic also when the issue about actress Maris Racal went viral. That was the time when Maris’s romantic relationship with her loveteam partner Anthony Jennings was exposed on social media. Memes surfaced that used Mariz’s face and name instead of Maris’s.
