Drug Suspect Lost His Life During Drug Buy-Bust Operation inCainta, Rizal
A drug suspect was killed in a shootout during drug buy-bust operation in Barangay San Andres, Cainta, Rizal.
On March 12, 2025, the authorities conducted a buy-bust operation that led to a violent encounter with the suspect, identified as alias Diether. The operation leads into the suspect’s untimely demise.
Police cornered Diether at his own home, but instead of surrendering, he allegedly opened fire at the officers. One police operative was hit in the body, while another officer was shot at but not injured.

In response, police engaged in a gunfight, which resulted in the suspect’s death. Investigators later discovered that Diether had emptied an entire magazine of his .45 caliber firearm during the shootout.
Bullet marks on the walls of the suspect’s house showed how intense the exchange of gunfire was. The injured police officer was rushed to the hospital, where doctors had to remove his kidney due to the damage caused by the gunshot. He also sustained injuries to his liver but is now recovering.
At the crime scene, authorities recovered the firearm used by the suspect, along with over 28 grams of suspected shabu worth approximately P191,000. Four other individuals present during the operation were also arrested.
Police revealed that the four suspects were caught in the middle of a drug session inside the small house. Three of them claimed they were only drug users and not involved in selling, while the fourth suspect insisted she was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Records show that Diether had previously served time in jail for drug-related offenses. His drug customers reportedly came from Cainta, Taytay, and Antipolo. Authorities also confirmed that he was considered armed and dangerous, as he always carried a firearm.
Further investigation revealed that Diether had an outstanding arrest warrant for frustrated homicide issued by a Pasig City court. Meanwhile, the four arrested suspects will face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
