The media executive said that she is proud of Derrick Monasterio and that the actor would definitely leave a mark on this project. With this, the actor expressed gratitude for these positive words.

Derrick is aware of the negative reactions to his acting. Some would call him “bano” or “ham actor” which meant that he was not good at portraying the roles given to him.

“Well, dati, nu’ng tinatawag akong hindi ako marunong umarte, ganu’n, parang hindi pa rin talaga nagsi-sink in. Di pa rin talaga maayos. Parang sabi ko, ‘Ganu’n lang.’ Parang hindi ko siya sinasapuso,” he admitted.

The actor also said that he was pissed off by these comments but this has changed. Now, he realized that he was lacking and he was not internalizing it well.

On the other hand, he is happy that in his 15 years in the entertainment industry, it is the first time to hear that kind of positive comment about his acting. “Kasi dati sa singing, sa rampa-rampa, sa acting, sarap sa feeling,” he said.

When he would read comments like these, he would just divert it to looking good. His perception of this changed because of his partner Elle Villanueva.

Derrick Monasterio also shared that he thinks he has matured. When he was younger, it seemed like he was just playing but now, he is serious in what he does.
