Nadine Lustre Reveals Her Transformative Journey to Veganism
NADINE LUSTRE – Actress Nadine Lustre opens up about her decision to embrace a vegan lifestyle, sharing the challenges, motivations, and benefits she has experienced along the way.
Nadine Lustre recently opened up about her transition to a plant-based lifestyle, emphasizing that it was a gradual journey rather than an abrupt change. In a conversation with MJ Marfori and other media representatives, she shared her experiences and insights into becoming a vegan.
According to Nadine, her dietary shift started with pescetarianism before she transitioned to vegetarianism and ultimately adopted a fully vegan lifestyle. She highlighted the importance of allowing oneself time to adapt to such a significant change. “It’s really not overnight just because every time people ask parang they think I [did] it overnight eh. It’s really a process, parang mine I think I went pescatarian first and then eventually a vegetarian and then went full vegan na,” she explained.

Beyond dietary choices, Nadine emphasized how going vegan has profoundly impacted her perspective on life and her connection with animals. “It’s just the most amazing thing. Your connection with animals is different. Parang the way you see the world is very different as well,” she shared.
Physically, Nadine noted remarkable improvements in her strength and endurance, particularly in her workouts. “With my health din I notice that I am stronger now than I was before especially when I work out. Parang I could last longer with sets, I don’t get tired when I do cardio,” she added.
She also addressed common misconceptions about veganism, particularly the belief that vegans lack essential nutrients and are physically weaker. “A lot of people would, and this is something that us vegans would always get, na parang people would say na we are weak, we don’t get all the nutrients… all of that stuff. That’s really not true and I could 100 percent say na ever since I went vegan, I am just much healthier and much stronger,” she affirmed.

In addition to her personal commitment to veganism, Nadine has ventured into promoting plant-based products. Last year, she launched Dehusk, a plant-based milk brand, alongside her boyfriend, Christophe Bariou. She proudly shared that Dehusk is locally sourced and produced, which not only supports Filipino coconut farmers but also reduces carbon emissions.
“I think what’s amazing about Dehusk is that it’s locally sourced, so we help out the coconut farmers and it’s locally produced as well. Meaning it cuts off a lot of the carbon emission or the carbon footprint. Kasi we’re one of the top exporters of coconuts in the world, and the thing is, our coconuts are sent out tapos sent back to us as products and we’re taxed,” she said about the brand.
Nadine went on: “That’s what our partners are really trying to solve na parang how do we make a product or make a [coconut-based] milk or coconut product that’s by the Filipinos, for the Filipinos and addresses a lot of concerns like calcium deficiency, lactose intolerance, and the carbon emissions.”
Nadine’s journey highlights the transformative power of a plant-based lifestyle, not just for personal health but also for sustainability and local communities.
