In an interview, the girlfriend of Hajji Alejandro speaks about his cancer.
OPM icon Hajji Alejandro is battling Stage 4 colon cancer, and Alynna, his partner for 27 years, finally spoke about his condition.
Earlier, alumni of San Beda asked for healing prayers for the 70-year-old singer Hajji Alejandro. The icon was rushed to the hospital and intubated, and reportedly, the cancer had already spread in his lungs and liver.
He was dubbed “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala” in the 70s and some of his memorable musical hits are “Kay Ganda Ng Ating Musika,” “Nakapagtataka,” “Panakip-Butas,” and “Tag-Ulan Sa Tag-Araw.”
Recently, singer Alynna, his partner for 27 years, spoke about his condition during an interview with Julius Babao.
According to her, everything happened suddenly. The first instance they noticed the symptoms, he was suffering from bloatedness and having difficulty breathing, eating, and doing anything. He did a CT scan, and that was when they found out about his condition.
The initial findings were pretty straightforward: Stage 4 colon cancer. He underwent an operation, but a couple of days later, he was rushed to the ICU after suffering from a seizure due to an infection.
Eventually, he became better. He lost his muscles, lost weight, and finally home. The icon is in therapy, and Alynna, during that difficult time, was praying hard to be with her for a longer time. She was praying hard to take him home and promised to take care of him for the rest of their lives.
Despite everything, apart from having him home again, she was also grateful that the doctors were able to save his voice.
Right now, she stepped back and let the family lead in taking care of him. She expressed this as a girlfriend and as a respect to them because, legally speaking, they are not yet there. They have been in a relationship for over two decades and have been together for a long time but they are not married yet.
“This stage of Hajji’s life now where everybody has to compute on everything, technical is very important,” she said based on the interview.
