Harry Roque Pledges to Secure Duterte’s Return to the Philippines
HARRY ROQUE – Former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque vows to secure Rodrigo Duterte’s swift return to the Philippines, assuring that all necessary legal steps will be taken.
Harry Roque has pledged to take all necessary steps to bring former President Rodrigo Duterte back to the Philippines. Roque emphasized that his legal team is fully committed to ensuring Duterte’s swift release and safe return.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Roque stated that he would not go back to the Philippines without Duterte. As a key member of Duterte’s legal team, he assured the public that they are working tirelessly to secure the former president’s freedom.

“I have already said that we will not return home without [former] President Duterte, so let’s just say that our prayers are that he will be released at the soonest time possible and we will take all steps necessary to bring him home as soon as possible,” Roque declared.
Duterte was arrested on March 11 following an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). The warrant is tied to allegations of crimes against humanity related to Duterte’s controversial anti-drug campaign during his presidency. The campaign, which led to thousands of deaths, attracted widespread international criticism and prompted the ICC to open an investigation.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. denied accusations that Duterte’s arrest was politically motivated. Marcos clarified that the Philippine government was following Interpol’s orders and insisted that the arrest was based on international protocols rather than domestic political pressures.

Roque’s statements reflect his determination to challenge the ICC’s actions and bring Duterte home. He expressed confidence in the legal process and vowed that Duterte’s defense team would exhaust all possible legal remedies to secure his release.
As the legal and political situation develops, both domestic and international observers continue to monitor the case closely. Duterte’s arrest has triggered a heated national debate, with his supporters demanding his immediate release and his critics insisting that he face justice for alleged human rights violations. Roque’s resolute stance highlights the ongoing political and legal tension surrounding the former president’s fate.
