Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has arrived in The Hague
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former Philippine President entered The Hague prison where he is set to be held ahead of the International Criminal Court (ICC) trial.
The war on drugs of the Duterte administration has caught not only the attention of the Filipinos who are defenders of the human rights but as well as international entities like the ICC or the International Criminal Court. In the past, the former President has thrown several strong remarks against the ICC.

Duterte removed the Philippines from the ICC jurisdiction in the early years of his watch. The controversial war on drugs is linked to thousands of deaths. While there are people who lauded the former administration’s drug war, there are also who are against how the campaign was allegedly implemented.
During the recent House Quad Committee hearing, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte told the ICC to hurry up and investigate him. He stressed that he might die without them having probed him.

According to Duterte, he is not impressed with the ICC as it has allegedly not imprisoned anyone. However, recently, the Filipino populace when the international court reportedly released a warrant of arrest against the former President.

Upon his arrival from Hong Kong, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) by the authorities of the Philippine National Police. According to Malacañang, Interpol Manila has received a copy of the arrest warrant from the ICC early that day.
The arrest caught countless people shocked. On the same day, former Pres. Duterte was flown out of the Philippines for the Netherlands. Recently, it was confirmed that he has arrived in The Hague.

Based on a report on GMA News, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has entered the Hague Penitentiary Institution or the Scheveningen Prison. It is where the former Chief Executive will stay while waiting for his ICC trial.

According to the report, Duterte arrived at The Hague Prison at 2:34 a.m. in the Philippine time aboard a black vehicle. There were Filipino supporters outside the penitentiary institution chanting “We Love Duterte” and “Bring him back”.
Duterte’s daughter, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, also flew to the Netherlands for her father. His son, Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte, also sought a permission to travel to the Netherlands.
