A male netizen shared how a drug addict allegedly ruined their lives as siblings, saying, “sinayang nya buhay nang kapatid ko”.
Recently, Martin Mercado, a Facebook user, shared a heartbreaking story about how a drug addict ruined his and his brother’s lives. The post garnered variious reactions from the online community.
According to Martin Mercado, he and his brother were at home when an armed intruder, allegedly under the influence of drugs, broke in and attacked them. His brother was in the living room playing a mobile game while Martin was asleep in his room.
Mercado suddenly woke up to his brother’s desperate screams, warning him not to come out. Before he could fully process what was happening, the attacker stormed into his room and repeatedly stabbed him with a kitchen knife, leaving him with 11 stab wounds.
Despite being badly injured, Martin fought back. He used a pillow as a shield and managed to stab the intruder before the assailant ran away. In extreme pain and struggling to breathe, he desperately searched for his car keys to drive himself and his brother to the hospital.
However, as he stepped outside, he was told that his brother had already been taken away by an ambulance. Exhausted and bleeding, he tried to flag down passing cars for help, but no one stopped. As he grew weaker, he could only pray that his brother would survive.
Martin later woke up in the hospital, only to be told the devastating news—his brother had passed away at 1:30 AM. The pain was unbearable, but what made things worse was the legal process that followed.
The suspect was granted bail for only P3,000, as the case was initially considered a minor physical injury. Martin and other victims immediately pursued legal action.
