The Philippine Air Force conducts tactical operations exercise from time to time for various purposes. Most often, it is done in support of the ground troops. Several aircrafts are usually involved in the mission which might happen even on night.

However, recently, countless people were saddened when reports about a PH Air Force fighter jet went missing during a Tactical Night Operations exercise in support of the ground troops. According to the Air Force, the missing FA-50 lost communication with the rest of the flights a few minutes before they reached the target area.
The PAF said that all the other aircrafts involved in the Tactical Night Operations “repeatedly attempted to re-establish contact with the missing aircraft” until they went back to Mactan, Cebu.

The Philippine Air Force assured that they were utilizing all available resources to locate the missing FA-50 and its crew. Then, the number of crew aboard the aircraft was not mentioned.
The following day since the fighter jet went missing, the PAF confirmed that the missing fighter jet and crew were found in Mount Kalatungan, Bukidnon province. The bodies of two (2) pilots were found.
The Mount Kalatungan is the 5th tallest mountain in the country. According to AFP Eastern Mindanao Command commander Lt. Gen. Luis Rex Bergante, the bodies of the two (2) pilots were found near the wreckage.
