Sen. Cynthia Villar Says She has Not Much Ambition in Life Now
CYNTHIA VILLAR – The Senator said she just wants to live a simple and productive life as she downplayed the interest to be a House Speaker.
The Villar family is one of the most popular clans not only in business but as well as in the political arena. Their patriarch, former Senator Manny Villar who ran for president in 2010 but lost the late former President Noynoy Aquino, is one of the richest people in the Philippines.
Currently, the Villar family’s matriarch, Sen. Cynthia Villar, is on her last term in the Senate. It was in 2013 when she entered the senatorial arena after hitting the 10th place in the senatorial race under the ticket of Aquino.
Sen. Mark Villar, the son of the Villar couple, has a remaining of 3 years left in his senatorial term while their daughter, Camille Villar, is the congresswoman of the lone district of Las Piñas City.
Undeniably, in the case of the Philippine political arena, there are allies. Amid the ongoing rift between the Dutertes and the Marcoses which are two (2) of the biggest political clans in the country, Sen. Cynthia Villar previously expressed her hope that Pres. Bongbong Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will just reconcile.
In the upcoming 2025 Midterm Elections, Sen. Cynthia Villar who is now on her last term in the Senate is running for congresswoman of Las Piñas City. Based on a report on GMA News Balitambayan, she downplayed the interest to be a House Speaker if she wins the congressional seat.
According to the outgoing Senator, she has not much ambition in life. Based on the report, she stressed that she just wants to live a simple and productive life.
“I just want to live a simple and productive life. Wala na ako masyadong ambisyon,” the Senator said.
Currently, Camille Villar is the congresswoman of Las Piñas City and she is a candidate for senator in the upcoming poll. If she wins, she will be in the same chamber with Sen. Mark Villar.
Previously, Sen. Cynthia Villar talked to the people of Las Piñas City as their family plans to give away lot properties. However, the outgoing Senator said that it depends if the people of Las Piñas will also show their support to their family in the upcoming election or they might change their minds over the land distribution.
Amid her senatorial stint, there several instances when Villar went viral on social media for her statements and actions. Aside from the proposal to ban unlimited rice in the Philippines, Sen. Cynthia Villar also caught attention when a video of her alleged outburst at a security guard circulated on social media.
