Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos shared the political advice she gave to her son TV host Luis Manzano.
Vilma is not just a veteran in the entertainment industry as she can also be considered a veteran in the political arena. For many years, she served as mayor, congresswoman, and governor in Batangas.
For the 2025 elections, Vilma returned to politics. She is running for governor while her son Luis is her running mate. It is Luis’s first time to formally enter the political arena, even though he grew up around this world, because his father Edu Manzano also had a political career for a while, and his stepfather Ralph Recto has been in public service for many years.
In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Vilma Santos shared that it was she who convinced Luis Manzano to enter the political arena.
Before the filing of the certificate of candidacy, Luis already expressed the possibility of running for a local position. In a previous statement, Luis shared that after he finally announced his political plan, he lost three or four endorsement projects. These companies did not renew his contract.
However, Luis said that he understood the companies who backed out. With this, he recalled what his mother told him about deciding to be in politics.
“We were eating, and she said, ‘Anak, I know the industry. Believe me, the moment you make the announcement, whether you believe it or not, even your endorsements will disappear, and they will back out,’” Luis shared. Obviously, what Vilma said became a reality for her son.
