On Monday evening (February 24, 2025), a tragic accident in Minglanilla, Cebu, claimed the life of a young girl after she was run over by a truck during a motorcycle practice session with her uncle.
The young victim, a resident of Cebu City, was visiting her grandmother for the long weekend due to the city’s Charter Day celebration. Her 34-year-old uncle, who had recently acquired a new motorcycle, decided to take her along for practice driving.
However, the child’s mother was unaware of this trip, as the uncle had only informed the grandmother about taking the child. The grandmother also did not know that they were heading to Minglanilla.
According to an investigation conducted by the Minglanilla Traffic Commission, led by Glenn Antigua, the uncle lost his balance while riding, causing the motorcycle to fall. Unfortunately, the child was thrown onto the road and was run over by a passing truck. The accident has left the family devastated.
The incident reminds the public of the dangers of allowing children to ride motorcycles, especially without proper safety measures. Parents and guardians are urged to always ensure their children’s safety and to be fully aware of their whereabouts.
