Pokwang Seeks NBI Help Against Scammer Using Her Home for Fake Staycation

Pokwang Turns to NBI Over Scammer Exploiting Her Home for Fake Staycation

POKWANG – Actress Pokwang has sought the help of the NBI after discovering that a scammer was using her home address to promote a fake staycation.

Filipina comedienne Pokwang has turned to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for assistance after discovering that a scammer has been using her home address in Antipolo as the supposed location of a staycation resort. The fraudulent scheme has led unsuspecting victims to knock on her doors, believing they had booked accommodations.

In an interview on “24 Oras,” Pokwang expressed her distress over the situation, revealing that three to five victims arrive at her home daily, all of whom had already made down payments ranging from P5,000 to P10,000. This alarming frequency of incidents has made her fear for her family’s safety.

“Minsan sa isang araw ang kumakatok na tao dito tatlo hanggang limang biktima, sa isang araw lang ‘yon at karamihan doon mga nagda-down [payment] na,” she shared. She estimated that the scammer could be earning around P200,000 weekly through the fraudulent transactions.

The scammer reportedly lured victims through a Facebook page, falsely advertising a staycation resort with enticing images. Pokwang emphasized that no such resort exists, highlighting the deceptive nature of the scheme. “Maiinganyo ka sa mga pinopost sa account […] Pero wala talaga ganong resort,” she stated.

According to the victims, once they transferred their payments, the scammer would immediately block them, making it impossible for them to contact or request a refund. This left many people frustrated and financially burdened.

Determined to bring the perpetrator to justice, Pokwang has already filed a formal complaint with the NBI. She is resolute in holding the scammer accountable, especially since the scheme has put her family’s security at risk.

“Natatakot ako para sa family ko. Nilagay mo sa risk ‘yung buhay ng family ko. Kaya hindi kita titigilan. Kakasuhan ko siya,” she declared.

This is not the first time Pokwang has faced financial fraud. Last year, she voiced her grievance after losing a significant sum of money stored in her GCash account. The incidents underscore the growing concerns over online scams and highlight the importance of vigilance when making transactions online.

Authorities are now investigating the case, and Pokwang urges the public to be cautious and verify the legitimacy of staycation offers before making any payments.
